Last year I was the surprised recipient of the Marti Friedlander Photographic Award. Supported by the Arts Foundation, the Award is presented every two years to an established photographer with a record of excellence and potential to continue working at high levels.

Aware of the fantastic work being produced by other photographers in New Zealand, I felt privileged to be selected by Marti for this honour.

  • We have recently been building a set of Learning Objects for Dairy NZ, now when I say this most people look at me blankly, not really understanding what a learning object is and what it can do?

    Wiki defines learning objects as:

A learning object is "a collection of content items, practice items, and assessment items that are combined based on a single learning objective".

Not to be confused with the Platters song ‘The great pretender’, ‘connecting’ appears to be a new buzz word for the more social side of ‘networking’, even if the word itself sounds like a new age dating service.

Base Two is always looking for great ideas and we find great inspiration from design around the world. We particularly liked this Annual Report that was created for Austria Solar by the agency Serviceplan Campaign. Its particularly fitting as Solar energy is the main business of the client Austria Solar. This is the first annual report powered by the sun. Its content remains invisible until sunlight falls on its pages. How cool is that. We can honestly say it caused quite a stir when we first saw it round the office.

Lets face it, it’s a drag. Unless you are a taste tester for Monteith’s, or tasked with capturing the hottest temperature in NZ each day, going back to work after the festive season can take a little adjusting.

Those snoozy mornings of reading the paper while drinking your coffee in bed subside to the weekends (if you’re lucky) and the things that didn’t quite get ticked off the to do list last year linger at your empty desk.
