Sean thrives on building successful, long-term partnerships with his clients. He brings a depth of creative and business talent to his work with particular strengths in client engagement, design strategy, brand development, and creative direction. He enjoys the challenges of working in a creative environment and strives to consistently exceed clients’ expectations by delivering effective design-led communications solutions with a defined purpose and clear message. Trained in fine arts and graphic design, Sean has more than 20 years’ experience as a practising designer, creative director and account director in New Zealand and the UK. He is a fellow and past president of the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) and has judged New Zealand’s Book Design Awards, Pride in Print Awards and the Best Design Awards.

Colin Phillips
Interactive Director

Colin places particular emphasis on the delivery of cutting edge digital solutions. He takes a broad view that good design on all levels of a project is necessary to develop and deliver a successful user interface, which is both functional and friendly. With over 29 years’ experience in the design industry, 18 of which have been spent in web design and development, it is fair to say that Colin has an edge in the digital industry. As one of the early pioneers of web design Colin has worked with organisations worldwide. He has an Honour's Degree in Graphic Design from Staffordshire University and a Master’s Degree in Multimedia Design from Central St. Martins in London. Colin also lectures on web design at Massey University and Whitireia Polytechnic, as well as taking time to be a Masters supervisor and external assessor.

Neil Pardington
Creative Director

“Exceptional design makes life better”
Considered one of New Zealand’s foremost designers, Neil’s work is regularly recognised at the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Awards and BPANZ Book Awards. Neil has represented New Zealand twice at the Frankfurt Book Fair and was the 2011 recipient of the Marti Friedlander Photography Award. With over 26 years’ experience as a designer, Neil initially worked in art museums, then as director of Eyework Design, which he founded in 1989. Neil joined Base Two as a Creative Director in 2004. Neil’s portfolio spans both the corporate and arts sectors, his experience ranging from brand development and annual reports, to exhibition and graphic design for prominent New Zealand art galleries and museums. Neil is of Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Kāti Waewae and Pākehā descent and is a graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

Snow Hnin

Snow brings a wealth of experience in analysing design and business requirements for proposed systems, and developing and managing implementation and post-implementation.She has a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems from London Metropolitan University, UK (2008) and Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Computer Studies Yangon, Myanmar (2004). A cutting edge developer Snow has more than nine years’ experience in developing mobile, desktop and web applications and recently embraced the open-source world becoming highly skilled in developing for Drupal, WordPress and Silverstripe.


Joanna Madgwick
Graphic Designer

A talented, passionate designer, Jo brings a thoughtful approach and can-do attitude to every brief she grabs hold of. After graduating with a Bachelor of Design majoring in visual communication from CPIT, Jo has excelled in several roles in both New Zealand and Australia. As an in-house creative at a startup business, Jo quickly learned the essentials of establishing a business’s marketing strategy: from branding to web design and packaging. Three years in a fast paced design
 and marketing agency saw Jo stretch her creative fingers working with a range of clients from self-employed business owners to big corporates. She gained valuable experience working on creative concepts, designing and coordinating national campaigns, copywriting and social media management in addition to honing her client management skills. As part of the communications team for Trilogy Natural Products, Jo managed day-to day communications and created beautiful packaging for new products across various ranges.


Simon Brunton
Digital Designer

“There’s nothing I like more than every day creating beautiful digital experiences”
Simon has a strong design intuition, a genuine interest in working with people and bringing the user experience edge to all projects he works on. Working as an in-house designer for a government-funded education organisation for more than five years sharpened Simon’s design skills. But his passion for the dark arts of digital design got the better of him and he joined the team at Base Two Design as a UX designer in search of bigger adventures. Simon has an Honour's Degree in Design at Massey University in Wellington.
